In 2021, it’s been 50 years since homosexuality was decriminalised in Finland. Penalisation of homosexual acts was removed from the Criminal Code in 1971. Before the legal reform, violations of the law could carry a penalty of up to two years in prison.

In 2021, it’s been 40 years since homosexuality was removed from the Finnish Classification of Diseases. The National Board of Health removed homosexuality as mental illness from the official classification of diseases in 1981.

Fulfilment of the rainbow community’s rights, addressing shortcomings, and advocating for change require not only legal reform but also a sense of community and opportunities to assemble and get support. Helsinki Pride Community was formerly known as HeSeta.

This year, our parade marches across all of Finland in all colours of the rainbow. Everyone can join the virtual parade, demonstrate their support for human rights, and celebrate equality wherever they choose. The parade launches during Pride Week on June 28, and you can attend anywhere in the world until July 4.
Helsinki Pride 2021
concert
The Helsinki Pride 2021 concert brings the party to your home! A group of fabulous artists join forces to create a pandemic spectacle for the ages as SANNI, Tuure Boelius, Yeboyah, Benjamin, NikoLa, and Pola Ivanka take the stage. The concert is hosted by Cristal Snow and Lola Lorenzo and broadcast on the Pride stream and the Yle Teema channel on Saturday July 3, 2021.
